MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) -- The Mercer County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Tuesday evening. Officers responded State Road 707 west of Wabash Road, which is northwest of Celina, at approximately 5:49 p.m. According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, a van heading east on State Road 707 traveled left on center for an unknown reason and struck a semitruck hauling a gooseneck trailer that was heading west. The driver of the van, identified as 47-year-old Anthony G. Cole, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation will be sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office for review. The crash marked the first traffic fatality in the county in 2025.
