Girl Scout cookie season is almost here
Jan 14, 2025
BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Girl Scout cookie season is back. However, fans only have this year to stock up on two popular cookies before they're discontinued.
The Director of Communications for Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons, Bailey Brooker, said, "Two cookies are being discontinued after this cookie season. Those are Toast-Yays! and the Girl Scout S'mores."
So why are these cookies being removed from the lineup?
"We just routinely reevaluate our lineup, and they've been around since 2017. A lot of fans do love them, but to make room for new innovations and new cookies in the future, we have to kind of keep that lineup small," Brooker said. "Girls can only handle so many varieties of cookies at a time."

This news is especially tough for S'mores fans in North Dakota. The Toast-Yay! cookie has never been available in the state.
"Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons, which serves North Dakota, only offers the Girl Scouts S'mores cookie," Brooker said. "So Toast-yays are offered from a different Baker. So all Girl Scout Cookies come from two bakers. So depending on which Baker the Girl Scout Council uses in the area, it will kind of affect the cookies that they offer. So we use a baker that only offers the s'mores cookies."
"If you do love s'mores, like so many people do, stock up this season. They freeze well, so you can buy a whole bunch, throw them in the freezer and kind of eat them throughout the next year," Brooker said.
