BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Ministry on the Margins held an event today to provide free haircuts to anyone in need. From 2 to 4 p.m., people stopped by the organization’s center to get a fresh haircut, no questions asked. The program, which happens monthly, is designed to help those living on the streets or struggling financially. Kris Morrissette, behavioral health manager for Ministries on the Margins, explained how the program began. “A couple years ago, we noticed this need with people living on the streets or just struggling to make ends meet. A haircut can make a big difference, so we decided to start offering them for free," Morrissette said. "Anyone can come, no questions asked." City of Bismarck braces for recycling fee increase The haircuts are made possible by volunteer hairdressers from the local community. According to Morrissette, there’s never a shortage of volunteers willing to step in and help. “We’ve been fortunate to have people step up every month and donate their time," she said. "It’s heartwarming to see how much the community cares." There’s no sign-up process or eligibility requirements. People simply walk in during the designated hours, and the service is completely free. If you missed today’s event, there will be another opportunity next month. Ministry on the Margins posts its haircut schedule on Facebook about a week before each event, making it easy for anyone in the community to find out when and where to go.
