Jan 14, 2025
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Firing Pin and the Rochester African American Firearms Association plan to present an 18-hour New York Pistol Class this weekend.
"There are very few people, even if you've been around guns your entire life, there are very few people that walk away learning nothing. There's a lot of information that we go over in the course," said Brandon Lewis, owner of The Firing Pin.
The event is expected to cover topics like basic firearm safety, maintenance, cleaning, safe storage, firearm-specific New York Laws, situational awareness, and how to interact with law enforcement. It runs on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at the Kodak Center and will cost $149.

"I believe it is the lowest-priced class at this time, and we want to be able to offer that to everybody because some people might not be able to afford the higher-priced classes, some people might not be able to take off of work and get childcare," said Paul Adell Jr., a certified instructor.
