Cats rescued, family displaced in Fresno house fire

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two cats were saved from a fire that ignited Monday evening inside a Fresno home, the Fresno Fire Department announced.
Firefighters say just before 11 p.m. they responded to a house fire in the 6100 block of east Sussex Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews reported a garage attached to the home pouring out smoke, with flames extending into the home.
Firefighters say they were able to rescue two cats from the home after the residents tried to re-enter to rescue them. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the fire, crews say five people have been displaced and have been in contact with the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
