Wife in court after husband found dead and burning in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The woman who allegedly set her husband on fire before he was found dead in Madera County was in court on Tuesday to face murder charges.
Jessie Equilla Brooks made her first court appearance following her arrest and booking into the Madera County Jail on suspicion of homicide following the death of her husband, 52-year-old Ronald Alan Brooks II on Jan. 9.
Brooks, who was wearing a green jumpsuit, requested a continuance of her arraignment so she could hire an attorney.

Officials report that Ronald Alan Brooks II was found dead on Children’s Boulevard. Deputies responded to a call indicating that a woman had set her husband on fire.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that 52-year-old Ronald Alan Brooks II was married to the suspect, 56-year-old Jessie Equilla Brooks.
Brooks is due back in court in February.
