(KRON) -- A father was arrested after his child was found deceased inside their home on Harmon Avenue in Oakland last month, according to reports. The Oakland Police Department told KRON4 on Tuesday that detectives are still investigating what led up to and caused the child's death. Officers were dispatched to the home on the 5700 block of Harmon Avenue just after 1 p.m. on December 17, 2024, OPD said. "Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate a report of an unresponsive juvenile. Paramedics responded to the scene to assist and transported the juvenile to an area hospital where they were unfortunately pronounced deceased," the police department wrote. Police officers took one person into custody, according to OPD. The East Bay Times reported that the victim was a 3-year-old boy, and the arrested man is the victim's father. Oakland Police Department Special Victims Section detectives are probing "circumstances surrounding the death," police told KRON4. An Alameda County Sheriff's coroner has not yet released the child's official cause of death. Santa Rosa police search for man who followed girls leaving school OPD is asking anyone with additional information about the incident to call investigators at 510-238-3641.
