Man arrested for allegedly robbing three Springfield businesses with a firearm

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with multiple armed robberies.
On January 11th around 1:00 p.m., officers got a call about an armed robbery at a business on Walnut Street. The suspect, who has since been identified as 31-year-old Willie Duke, allegedly robbed the business clerk with a firearm and escaped with cash.

At around 1:30 p.m., the same suspect was alleged to have robbed a convenience store on St. James Avenue, also armed. At 2:00 p.m., Duke allegedly robbed another business on the 600 block of State Street armed with a firearm and getting away with cash.
At 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Duke was arrested by the Springfield Police Department. Detectives worked alongside the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center to gather evidence and locate the suspect and their vehicle. At approximately 7:15 a.m., the suspect's vehicle was reported to be in the Six Corners area.
Springfield police said the vehicle was found parked at a gas station at the 200 block of Hancock Street, and officers conducted a traffic stop. Duke exited the vehicle and attempted to run away, but officers took him into custody on the 100 block of Ashley Street.
Duke is charged with three counts of armed and masked robbery with a firearm and failure to stop for police.
