Albuquerque police officer accused of domestic violence appears in court

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque police officer facing charges for domestic violence was in court Tuesday for his first felony appearance. According to court documents, Officer James Eichel got into an argument with his wife last Sunday. When officers responded to their home, they could see bruises on his wife as well as a small cut on her ear. Police said his wife told them Eichel had been drinking.

He made his first appearance in front of Judge Joshua J. Sanchez Tuesday afternoon on charges of aggravated battery and false imprisonment. Eichel entered a plea of not guilty. He is expected back in court on February 13.
