PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl will spend the next 25 years behind bars, according to R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha. Kevin Frias, 42, received a 50-year prison sentence with 25 to serve, plus 50 years of probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender upon being released and will be subjected to lifetime GPS monitoring. Frias was convicted on two counts of first-degree child molestation and three counts of second-degree child molestation back in October. Neronha said that, between 2013 and 2018, Frias assaulted the victim several times at his home in Providence. "[Frias] received a significant sentence for his crimes because this victim came forward and told her story, exhibiting extraordinary bravery in the process," Neronha said. "Fostering a supportive environment for victims is paramount to keeping our community safe perpetrators of sexual violence."
