WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is holding another Valentine's Day fundraiser that's taking aim at exes everywhere. In 2024, the RISPCA hosted its "Love Stinks!" campaign, writing the names on hearts and putting those hearts into the shelter cats' litter boxes. The fundraiser gained international attention and raised more than $8,000. For $5, RISPCA staff will add your ex's name onto a toy heart. That heart will then be filled with treats and then given to the shelter dogs' to rip apart. The RISPCA said the submission does not necessarily have to be the name of a former lover, and can simply be something donors want to see "torn apart," such as childhood cancer and animal cruelty. "It's a win win," the RISPCA explained. "Our dogs get enrichment and you get the satisfaction of throwing your 'ex' to the dogs!'" Submissions can be made online, and will include a short video of the toy being torn apart sent via email. (Courtesy: RISPCA) (Courtesy: RISPCA) Close Thanks for signing up!
