Homicide investigation underway after remains found in Desire neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating after burnt human remains were found in the Desire neighborhood on Tuesday, Jan.14.
The NOPD reported that the remains were found at the intersection of Almonaster and Florida avenues around 11:56 a.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS and the New Orleans Fire Department.
NOPD officials said they are investigating the incident as a homicide.

The Orleans Parish coroner will conduct an autopsy and identify the victim.
