MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis couple is concerned after they say aggressive dogs won't leave their home and neighborhood. They say they've tried numerous times to get someone with the city to get the dogs removed because they're afraid someone could get hurt. "For the last week, we have been held hostage, terrorized," homeowner Ashley Davis said. "I want to get in the house and you see what I got." Tuesday morning, two dogs were posted up outside of Davis' Longview Heights home. So, Davis spoke with a WREG reporter in his car as the reporter stayed in hers. 29 dogs seized in North Memphis after year of warnings from MAS He said he was unsure and concerned about the dog's behavior, telling WREG that the dogs have been aggressive in the past. "Yes, every day, including this morning," Davis said. "I've had to stand out here with a shovel and a walking stick just so that my grandkids can get in the car to go to school and my wife can get in the car to go to work." He's not the only one telling WREG about the problem. While outside the home, a WREG reporter saw a dog approach a neighbor as well who shooed it away. He told her that the dogs were a "big problem." Davis said he doesn't know who the dogs belong to because they've just been hanging out in the neighborhood. Ashley Davis' wife Carol was even unable to park in her driveway because the dogs stationed themselves on the side of the house. "This is how I have to get in my house, with a bat," Carol Davis said. "I have to drive with this bat and get out with this bat." Suspects accused of taking packages from delivery driver at gunpoint Then, her husband escorts her into the home, armed with his walking stick and shovel. For now, the dogs are at bay but they said other days that's not the case. To protect themselves, the Davis family said they have reached out to the city and police about the issue. "I think I've made a total of seven or eight calls," Ashley Davis said. "I don't want to feel ignored by the city." They fear someone could get hurt. Not just their family but children in the neighborhood or a mail carrier. "I don't want anything to happen," Carol Davis said. WREG spoke with someone with the city and was told that Memphis Animal Services and Animal Control will work together to get the dogs. However, as of 4:30 Tuesday evening, the dogs were still in the area.
