After complaints led to the elimination of parking ticket fines for five days, the City of Lexington resumed the practice Tuesday. Laura Boison is the executive director of the Lexington-Fayette County Parking Authority. She said LexPark is responsible for helping clear the streets during winter weather events. “Our intention was to encourage people to move their cars in in the areas that were the most necessary – snow emergency routes, densely populated areas where there’s a lot of cars. So the intention was, was to encourage to help the overall the overall goal.” Boison said she hopes the controversy was a learning experience for citizens and city officials. “There is an ordinance that has been in place for a significant amount of time that you cannot park on the street greater than 24 hours.
