Kansas City police say suspect in custody after shooting, standoff

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police say a man is in custody following a shooting that turned into a multi-hour standoff Tuesday morning.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 10:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East 26th Street and Montgall Avenue on reports of a shooting.

However, after arriving at the scene, the shooting call was turned into a standoff after the suspect barricaded himself inside a home.
KCPD reported that there was a victim involved in the shooting and that they were taken to a hospital with "life-threatening injuries."
KCPD reports around 2:30 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing, according to police.
