An Alberta Clipper, a strong area of low pressure that developed over the Canadian prairie, raced southward across central Indiana Tuesday and brought a light dusting of snow the state. Overnight low temperatures will plunge to around zero, and wind chills will make it feel like -5° to -10° during the morning commute. Wednesday will be the coldest day of the month so far with highs in the teens.
A brief warm up starts Thursday with highs in the 30s. Temperatures will warm above freezing for Friday and Saturday but the respite from the cold won't last long as a stronger push of arctic air will soon travel south. Snow showers are likely for the second half of the weekend and the coldest air of the season will arrive next week. Expect low temperatures below zero, with high temperatures near 10° early next week.
