(WXIN/WTTV) — An Indiana couple has honored Pacers' starting center Myles Turner in a unique way: naming their newborn child after him.
Indy sports superfan George Turner, who goes by gturn3796 on Twitter, posted pictures Tuesday welcoming his new son to the world. The baby's name? Myles Lawrence Turner.
The naming, George confirmed, was inspired by the longest-tenured member of the Pacers, Myles Turner. The new father also said the mom and newborn child are both doing great.
"Twitter friends/family and most importantly @Original_Turner meet Myles Turner," George said, tagging the 6'11" center. "He entered this world last night at 9:33 p.m. His momma and I are so in love. Mom and baby are doing great💙."
Photos of the newborn, provided by George, can be seen below:
The child's name did not go unnoticed by the Pacers organization.
"Congrats💙💛," the Pacers' official Twitter account replied to George.
Turner - the namesake and not the newborn baby - also weighed in on what he called an honor.
"That’s So Dope! I’m Honored! Congratulations 🎊🎉," Turner said above George's post.
"Thank you Myles appreciate you," George replied.
Turner was drafted by the Pacers in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft and has remained with Indiana ever since. He has since become a fan-favorite in and around the city, even sponsoring a fan section of seats inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
