House Republicans release 2025 legislative priorities

INDIANAPOLIS -- After hearing the priorities from the House and Senate Democrats, as well as the Senate Republicans, officials with the Indiana House Republicans released their priorities for the 2025 legislative session.
According to a news release from the Indiana House Republicans, the priorities for the 2025 session includes protecting taxpayers, streamlining government and empowering Hoosiers.
Indiana Senate Republicans outline agenda for 2025 legislative session
"Thanks to years of fiscally responsible, conservative leadership, Indiana is well-positioned to craft another balanced, two-year state budget that protects Hoosier taxpayers while making strategic investments for the future," Indiana State Rep. Todd Huston, a Republican from Fishers and the Speaker of the House, said in the release. "In addition to the budget, House Republicans will focus on efforts to reduce regulations, lower costs for Hoosiers and strengthen our communities."
Lawmakers in the Indiana House of Representatives have already established some of their priorities through bills in the 2025 session. Some of those priorities include:
Uphold fiscal responsibility, streamline government
House Bill 1001
Pass an honestly balanced, two-year state budget that maintains investments in education and infrastructure while protecting taxpayers
House 1002
Reduce regulations on K-12 schools to increase flexibility, focus on outcomes and give local communities more control over education decisions
Reduce costs, improve services for Hoosiers
House Bill 1003
Improve transparency and predictability in healthcare pricing and billing
Provide patients increased access to their health information and more control over their treatment options
House Bill 1004
Ensure nonprofit hospitals act as nonprofit entities focused on delivering healthcare
House Bill 1007
Meet the needs of today's energy economy while reducing costs for Hoosiers by maintaining and growing generating capacity, including embracing small nuclear reactors

Strengthen, grow low-tax, low-cost Hoosier communities
House Bill 1006
Strengthen public safety by providing additional state investment for deputy prosecutors
House Bill 1005
Improve access to housing by expanding the Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program to help Hoosier communities finance infrastructure projects that support residential housing
House Bill 1008
Create the Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission to "embrace neighboring counties that want to join low-tax, low-cost Indiana."

"Indiana is ranked as the best state for business in the Midwest and we have the No. 1 tax climate in the Midwest. We invite our neighbors eager to live in a low-cost, low-tax state to join us in Indiana."
