IMPD: Man arrested after New Year's Day shots fired investigation

INDIANAPOLIS -- Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department recently arrested a 55-year-old man who reportedly fired shots at an apartment complex on the near north side of Indianapolis on New Year's Day.
According to a post on social media from IMPD, officers from the department's north district took a report of a shots fired incident at The Enclave Apartments on North Meridian Street just after 12 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Officers were able to identify 55-year-old Edward Price as the suspect in the incident based on surveillance video and information provided by community members. The post read that Price reportedly qualified as a serious violent felon based on his criminal history and was not allowed to have a firearm.
On Saturday, an IMPD officer was on patrol in the area of 3700 N Meridian St. when he reportedly saw Price. Price was placed under arrest and was reportedly found to have a gun on him.
“I am proud of the work our North District officers and detectives do every day to make our district and city safer by addressing individuals who use and possess crime guns in our community,” Matthew Thomas, a commander with IMPD's north district, said in the release.
