School district in Wisconsin addresses rumored threat, declares campus safe

CUBA CITY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin school district faced heightened concerns Tuesday morning following reports of an alleged threat against staff and students.
According to the Cuba City School District, district officials were notified of a possible threat. The Cuba City Police Department responded immediately and assisted with the investigation.

Based on their findings, authorities determined there was no credible threat to the school, staff, or students.
"Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate everyone's efforts to keep our students safe," the district stated in a message to parents.
Officials clarified that no specific threat of violence was identified. Rumors of a potential threat had circulated at Cuba City Middle & High School and on social media Monday night, but these were deemed unfounded.

"On behalf of the Cuba City Administration and the Cuba City Police Department, we have identified the need to improve our communication process," read a separate statement. "Moving forward, we will make every effort to notify families earlier in the investigation process. In the absence of timely information, misinformation can spread, creating unnecessary unease. We are committed to doing better in the future."
