UNION GROVE, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in southeastern Wisconsin have released body camera footage showing a deputy rescuing a woman from a burning vehicle following a two-vehicle crash last Thursday evening.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched shortly after 6 p.m. to the crash at County Highway KR and State Highway 45 in Union Grove. While en route, they were informed that one of the vehicles involved was on fire and the female driver was trapped inside.

Upon arrival, deputies removed the unresponsive driver from the burning vehicle and used fire extinguishers from their squad cars to control the flames. The woman was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to a nearby hospital, where she is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a preliminary investigation, a pickup truck hauling a large aluminum trailer filled with work tools was traveling west on County Highway KR. The woman’s vehicle was traveling north on State Highway 45 when the pickup truck reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, causing the collision.

The impact caused the pickup truck and trailer to overturn and strike a telephone pole on the northwest corner of the intersection. The trailer detached, rolled, and came to rest upside down. The woman’s vehicle was pushed off the roadway and caught fire.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. MCAT investigators will issue appropriate citations to the driver of the pickup truck following their review.
