(WOODLAND PARK, Colo.) — Before calling 911 to report smoke in the area, the U.S. Forest Service is reminding community members that a prescribed burn is taking place in Teller County on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (USFS_Pike&San Isabel) posted to X (formally known as Twitter) on Tuesday just after 10:45 a.m. about the Pikes Peak Ranger District's operations. "Today, Jan. 14, #PikesPeakRangerDistrict is conducting pile burning for the West Schubarth prescribed burn operation in Teller County," wrote USFS_Pike&San Isabel. "The unit is located near Forest Service Road 307 in Woodland Park." The Forest Service said smoke may be visible across the Front Range while operations are underway. "Please consider this information before calling 911," wrote USFS_Pike&San Isabel.
