BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Nearly 60 years after the first official city flag was designed, North Tonawanda is looking for an upgrade and you can be a part of the process. Voting is now open for the new city flag. A high school junior designed the original flag in 1967. Artists, historic preservationists and residents selected the top designs for the new edition, which can be previewed here. People can vote for the new design until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24. The flag will be displayed in the Gateway Harbor Park in the heart of downtown North Tonawanda, among various other key locations in the city. The limit is one vote per person or email. If you don't have an email but would still like to vote, you can do so by calling (716) 695-8540.
