Louisiana to get extreme cold air, potential winter mix from winter storm next week

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Louisiana is forecasted to have a potential winter storm bringing a surge of cold air late Sunday into early next week.
The forecast for Louisiana could be cold and dry or perhaps include freezing rain, sleet and snow across the state Tuesday from a low-pressure wave off the coast of south Texas.
A significant surge of cold air will move in from the north on Sunday into early next week. People should prepare for much colder than normal temperatures. A possible significant winter storm is predicted to impact the Baton Rouge area early next week between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Other tips include learning how to shut off water valves to avoid pipe bursts, checking on the elderly and bringing pets inside.
