NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a new photo of Shamsud-Din Jabbar and information about the deadly New Orleans terror attack on New Year's Day, including Jabbar's online search history.
The federal agency said agents have worked around the clock to determine Jabbar's motive for driving his truck into the crowd killing 14 and injuring both civilians and police officers. As of Tuesday, Jan. 14, agents said at least 57 injured individuals have been identified.
New Orleans attack raises familiar debate: Can Bourbon Street be made safe?
Recently obtained evidence revealed Jabbar became a "more devout" Muslim in 2022 and isolated himself from society before reportedly following extremist views in 2024.

Jabbar took a train from Houston to New Orleans and returned to Texas on a bus on Nov. 10, 2024. Agents said during the trip, Jabbar viewed a Orleans Street apartment and applied to rent but told the landlord he had changed his mind.
A review of his electronic devices showed several online searches including how to access a Bourbon Street balcony, information about Mardi Gras, along with several shootings in the city as late as mid-November, according to agents. He also searched an incident in Germany where a car rammed into a crowd at a Christmas market.
