BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Last week, 17 News reported the Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry announced they had fallen in hard times and were forced to shutdown in February due to a drop in donations and increase in number of pets in need. The mission of the pantry is to help pet owners who are facing unexpected financial life changes and provide food for their furry friends. Since then, the Bakersfield community has stepped in and donated enough funds to keep the doors open, according to Robin Ackling with the Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry. Greenfield Union School District seeks to void election and unseat Mercy Pena in the process Although, they're not in the clear just yet. The landlord did not renew the pantry's lease and they are now in need of a new 1,500-square-foot warehouse to work out of. The future facility would need to have a high ceiling and plenty of parking lot space to accommodate the 150-200 people in line the pantry serves each distribution date. The pantry now pays $1,200 a month and is seeking a new place that will meet its needs for a better price. To learn more information, visit their website here, Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry.
