FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (DC News Now) -- The Virginia Lottery knows that somebody won $1 million in the Powerball drawing that took place on Monday. As of Tuesday, it was waiting to find out who that person was (or people were). The Virginia Lottery said the winning ticket was sold at the Wegmans, located at 2281 Carl D. Silver Pkwy. in Fredericksburg. The ticket matched the first five numbers (4-6-16-39-66), but didn't have the Powerball number (9). Ashburn man, aunt win $1M in Virginia Lottery The ticket was the only one in the country to match the first five numbers, and none matched all six (for the estimaed jackpot of $285 million. Whoever has the winning ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. Virginia Lottery recommends the winner (or winners) sign the back of the ticket right away in order to establish ownership. Stores that sell a $1 million winning ticket get a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.
