Rockville man strikes first $50K win in Maryland Lottery scratchoff game

ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) -- One man is getting ready to put down the deposit on a house after winning $50,000 in a scratch-off game.
At the Maryland Lottery, it is "scratch-off season" and a man from Rockville is celebrating his win.
The player visited Hilltop Wine and Spirits on Race Track Road in Prince George's County, where he purchased a MONOPOLY X200 instant ticket. While in the store, he completed the scratch-off and noticed that he matched the winning number, 11.

Under the number, was the second-tier prize of $50,000.
“I was happy that I finally won. I have been playing for a long time,” he told the Maryland Lottery.
The man who lives in Montgomery County and works as a maintenance worker said he plans to use the prize money to purchase a house.
“I was in the process of saving for a house, but this helps with the down payment,” he explained.
According to the Maryland Lottery, the MONOPOLY X200 scratch-off went on sale on Nov. 27. All four top prizes of $2 million remain unclaimed. There are still five $50,000 second-tier prizes remaining, along with others ranging from $30 to $10,000.
