TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topekans are being invited to a few meet and greet opportunities with hockey players who are set to compete at a local events center later this month. Sean Zears with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) said in a press release on Jan. 14 that people are invited to come to three meet and greet opportunities to talk to players from the Danville Dashers/Topeka Scarecrows and Baton Rouge Zydeco/Topeka Road Runners. These professional hockey teams are set to compete in late January and early February at the Stormont Vail Events Center. People who turn out to the meet and greet will be able to get autographs from the players and learn about how to play hockey from the experts. Meet and greets will be held at the following locations: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19 at Crestview Community Center at 4801 Southwest Shunga Drive. 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Hillcrest Community Center at 1800 Southeast 21st Street. 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 at Garfield Community Center at 1600 Northeast Quincy Street. Zears said people will be eligible to win a four-pack of tickets to one of the four upcoming games at the Stormont Vail Events Center at the meet and greets.
