BOSTON (WWLP) - A man from New York was sentenced in connection with shipping dozens of packages containing cocaine from Puerto Rico to different addresses throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Man sentenced for manufacturing fentanyl pills sold in Massachusetts The Department of Justice states that 35-year-old Felix Baez Munoz was identified as a drug and money courier for a drug trafficking organization (DTO) that trafficked kilograms of cocaine from Puerto Rico through the mail. The cocaine was typically hidden inside the packages of items such as air fryers. These packages were then addressed to different places in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Detectives conducted a surveillance on Munoz in May 2020 as he took a duffle bag from Massachusetts to New York. After he was stopped in New York, he consented to a search of the duffle bag, where $387,030 of suspected drug proceeds was seized. Munoz pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute cocaine back in September. He was sentenced to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release. This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation, which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest level of criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
