SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield opens its doors as a new emergency overflow shelter for those in need in the event of a winter storm or below-freezing temperatures. City officials are scheduled to announce the new severe weather emergency overflow shelter site on Tuesday. According to the mayor's office, ARPA money was used to fund this shelter which will be able to house 25 people in need per night. City of Springfield requesting blankets and warm clothing for those in need The shelter is located at the Wesley United Methodist Church at 741 State Street.
