RISPCA begins annual fundraiser ‘Tearing Up My Heart’
Jan 14, 2025
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island SPCA is kicking off its annual Valentine’s Day fundraiser, following up a successful cat-centered campaign with something for the pups.
“Tearing Up My Heart” will see the RISPCA add the names of donor exes to a toy heart loaded with dogs treats.
These toys will be tossed to shelter dogs for them to rip apart on the behalf of donors.
The RISPCA noted that donors can add anything they want to a toy to be “torn apart,” not just the name of an ex.
Donations start at $5 per “name,” $25 for a name plus a short video, $50 for five names plus video, and a $100 donation will allow donors to pick their favorite dog to do the honors.
2024’s “Love Stinks” campaign raised $8,000 for the care of shelter animals, and saw resident cats using donors’ ex photos for litter box liner.
