NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Federal Bureau of Investigations released the latest update on the Bourbon Street attack investigation. FBI agents said they have worked around the clock to determine Shamsud-Din Jabbar's reasoning for driving his truck into the crowd killing 14 and injuring both civilians and police officers. Louisiana Remembers Reggie Hunter As of Tuesday, Jan. 14, agents said at least 57 injured individuals, have been identified. Agents also identified 63 individuals who were present during the New Year's Day attack but not physically injured along with two businesses. Recently obtained evidence revealed Jabbar became a "more devout" Muslim in 2022, isolating himself from society but in 2024 he reportedly began following extremist views. (Courtesy/FBI) In a recent trip taken on Nov. 10, 2024, showed Jabbar taking a train from Houston to New Orleans and returning the same day on a bus. Agents said during the trip, Jabbar viewed a Orleans Street apartment and applied to rent but told the landlord he had changed his mind. A review of his electronic devices showed several online searches including "how to access a balcony on Bourbon Street", information about Mardi Gras, along with several shootings in the city as late as mid-November, according to agents.
