Barricaded subject inside St. Claude neighborhood home surrenders

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department said a man who barricaded himself in a St. Claude neighborhood home has surrendered.
According to officers, around 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, they began investigating a "barricaded subject" in the 1800 block of Desire Street.

A perimeter was set up two city blocks around the location as officers worked to get the man to surrender.
NOPD officers noted that the man was known to have a mental problem and was armed with a handgun. At 10 p.m., officers reported hearing two gunshots but no injuries were reported.

Around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, the man was taken into custody without incident
