Priority registration opens for EPISD students affected by school closures

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- El Paso Independent School District has opened up priority registration for students who are being impacted by school closures under the district's Destination District Redesign.
On Nov. 19, a divided EPISD Board of Trustees voted 4-3 to close eight schools as it grapples with a budget deficit.

Six campuses are scheduled for closure in the 2025-26 school year -- Lamar Elementary, Newman Elementary, Putnam Elementary, Rivera Elementary, Rusk Elementary and Zavala Elementary.
Stanton and Travis Elementary schools are scheduled for closure in 2026-27.
