Father dies after fatal shooting of son in Texas City, police says

TEXAS CITY, Texas (KIAH) -- A family is in mourning in Texas City after an accidental fatal shooting led to a man suffering a fatal heart attack on Monday morning.
Police were called to a home on the 300 block of 10th Avenue North around 1:20 a.m. Monday. Officers found a 17-year-old teenage boy inside the home with gunshot wounds. The teen was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators discovered that the teen’s 15-year-old brother had accidentally shot and killed his brother. While trying to save his son’s life, the father of the two boys then had a fatal medical episode, police said.
The father was also declared dead at the scene.
Police questioned the 15-year-old and was released pending an additional investigation.
The Galveston County District Attorney will review the incident and will decide if charges will come from the incident.
