Discussion:
A cold front is moving through the region this morning. This will kick up the winds across the mountains with gusts 40-50 mph possible. Highs will reach the upper 20s to low 30s for the high country with temperatures topping out in the mid 40s for the Piedmont. A second front will bring some light snow to the highest elevations tonight, while sending lows tumbling. A cold weather advisory is in effect for Ashe and Watauga Counties as wind chills fall below zero. It will feel like the teens and 20s across the rest of the region with highs Wednesday only reaching the upper 30s to lower 40s. Temperatures will regulate back into the 50s by the end of the week. An approaching disturbance will bring a wintry mix to the mountains Friday night and a cold rain for the rest of the area Saturday. Showers will taper off Saturday night with upslope snow for the mountains Sunday. Bitter cold temperatures settle in next week with temperatures 10-15 degrees below average.
