Persistent northeast winds will continue to affect Kern County until Wednesday morning.
Daytime temperatures will remain above average, dropping below freezing at night. A dry air mass is currently in place overhead, along with a Rex block pattern that will persist until Wednesday. Wind gusts of up to 55 mph are expected near mountain communities, posing a significant risk.
The National Weather Service has issued a PDS warning due to the extreme weather conditions, affecting parts of Southern California. Residents are urged to stay alert and be prepared for potential immediate evacuations, as another Santa Ana wind event is forecasted to heighten fire danger in the region.
While this upcoming wind event may not be as intense as the previous one, it is still expected to be strong enough to facilitate the spread of fires.
