An early morning fire destroyed a mobile home in Mentor, while the lone resident was able to get out unharmed. According to Ron Zak, the current acting Mentor Fire chief, at 4 a.m. on Jan. 14, there was a mobile home fire at 7166 Mentor Ave. The man was woken by his smoke detector. He sought shelter at a neighbor’s home, and another neighbor made the initial 911 call. Zak said the resident was uninjured and is staying with friends and family. However, the trailer is a total loss. There were no firefighter injuries.
