ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Lake effect snow showers continue to pepper the region through this afternoon as a west wind establishes itself across the region. Temperatures are firmly in the teens and 20s today a cold air takes over with wind chills in the single digits to near zero. Winds will gust over 30 mph, making any snow that falls blow around and potentially drop the visibility down on roads. There will be a band of snow showers that drops south tonight, bringing an inch or two accumulation to most around Monroe County. Expect a few inches on the ground Wednesday morning, but winds will make snow drifts that distort snow amounts. The setup breaks down Wednesday night as pressure increases ahead of an incoming trough from the Great Lakes. That trough will bring snow showers by Thursday, but it looks disorganized. That will keep accumulations down and limit any lake effect potential going into Friday. In fact, a warm air setup is expect by Friday with temperatures surging into the upper 30s. A large system will develop and move into the region Saturday, at first bringing rain and snow. Another system possible Sunday will send snow showers east.
