(KRON) -- A man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a lengthy chase Monday afternoon in the North Bay, the San Rafael Police Department said. The suspect car was connected to a commercial burglary that happened in Rohnert Park two days earlier. Law enforcement located the car on East Cotati Avenue near Sonoma State University. When Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to ram a police car, SRPD said. RPDPS chased the car until it approached US-101, at which point it stopped the pursuit for public safety purposes. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office used a helicopter to follow the suspect. Santa Rosa police search for man who followed girls leaving school California Highway Patrol began to pursue the car as it went southbound on US-101. At one point, the suspect moved into the northbound lanes, driving the wrong way against traffic. CHP stopped northbound US-101 traffic at the Interstate 580 interchange to protect the public. The car was going about 50 miles per hour towards bystanders when an SRPD officer used his car to pin the suspect car against the concrete wall of the highway shoulder. The car smashed into the police car and became disabled. Its momentum carried it into another car. Images shared by SRPD show a chaotic scene with a wrecked car and multiple police cars. The suspect was arrested after a short standoff. Nobody involved suffered major injuries, police said. The suspect was identified as Casey Joseph Beck, 36, of Antioch. He is expected to be charged with several felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer and commercial burglary.
