FOXBORO, Mass (WWLP) - A new head coach has been introduced in New England and it is a familiar face for the franchise, 2023 Patriots Hall of Famer, Mike Vrabel. Another homecoming of a former Patriots player taking on the role at head coach. Mike Vrabel has officially been introduced as the new head coach by Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, exactly one week after firing former Patriots player and head coach, Jerod Mayo. Kraft detailing what went into the decision. "Most importantly, he had a clear and focused strategy of how to get us back to the championship way that is not only so important to all of us," said Kraft, "but also something that I think our fan base really deserves and expects." Vrabel, a former linebacker for the Patriots from 2001-2008, a three time Super Bowl Champion, and a 2023 inductee into the Patriots Hall of Fame. "I think he knows how it was when they were winning and I think he will hold the players accountable," said life-long Patriots fan, Chris Hall. Now building on his coaching career where he spent much of his playing career. Hoping to bring some much needed success to the organization, after three straight losing seasons. "The banners that hang in our stadium, they're not going to help us win, but I think it's a great reminder of what it takes to win and the type of people that you have to have in the organization, the selflessness, the work and the sacrifice that you have to make," said Vrabel. Vrabel saying he is ready to get started with the team. "The most important thing that I can tell them is that everybody in my eyes is starting over and they will prove to us and to this team the impact that they'll make," said Vrabel. "We're going to give those players an opportunity, and we all have to be ready to take advantage of our opportunities." Vrabel has some decisions to make before the season begins including his offensive and defensive coordinators, but for fans, all eyes turn to the NFL draft and who the Patriots will draft with the 4th pick.
