BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey will deliver her state of the state on Thursday the 16th. Ahead of the address, Governor Healey has outlined one of her goals for next fiscal year, the elimination of broker fees. In a statement, Governor Healey said, the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Massachusetts is about $2,500. With things unchanged, a renter would be expected to pay nearly $10,000 up front for first month’s rent, last month’s rent, security deposit and the broker’s fee. Governor Healey’s proposal would have who ever hires the broker to pay the fee, which usually is the landlord. Categories: Massachusetts, News
