NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – After snow moved through parts of New Mexico Monday, drier weather will return Tuesday. A slow warming trend starts Tuesday as well bringing highs back above average by the end of the week.
It's been a chilly day across New Mexico Monday. Snow fell across central and northern parts of the state today. This snow will continue to come to an end as drier weather moves in tonight. Another isolated, but light snow shower is moving through central New Mexico tonight, and it could bring another round of light snow to the Albuquerque Metro tonight, with little to no accumulation expected. Skies will be clearing across the state, bringing in very cold temperatures to start the day Tuesday.
A slow and gradual warming trend starts Tuesday afternoon and will continue through Friday. Our weather will be sunny, calm, and dry through Friday as well, with highs climbing back above average Friday afternoon. Winds will pick up Friday afternoon though, with westerly wind gusts as high as 45 mph.
A storm system will start moving into the region on Saturday. It will first start bringing in snow to southern Colorado and northern New Mexico on Saturday. A strong cold front will move south across the state Saturday into Sunday, bringing snow along within areas along and east of the central mountain chain. Snow could fall as far south as Roswell early Sunday morning. Snow will stick around through Monday with another blast of Arctic air. The heaviest snow will stay in northern and eastern New Mexico Saturday through Monday where up to 5" of snow is possible. Temperatures will again not climb above freezing for most of New Mexico next Monday.
