ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – He's a veteran and former New Mexico state police officer. Now a family is making a desperate plea for help after they say their Albuquerque relative has been missing for nearly a week. Sixty-eight-year-old New Mexico native Richard Hoak lives in the South Valley and his family says he's an active man but went missing off Central six days ago. "Definitely always strikes up a conversation with people and very friendly. Had a brain injury but he loves veteran people, he would always wear his veteran hat. He was in the military," said Brenda Kenyon, one of Hoak's daughters. Albuquerque police seek information on pair accused in deadly stabbing News 13 interviewed Hoak back in 2015 about one of his hobbies skiing with a veteran's program. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's office said Hoak was last seen on Atrisco near Central Avenue last week on Tuesday night. He's described as six foot three inches tall and weighs 230 pounds with grey hair and hazel eyes. Family members said they are concerned as Hoak does not have his phone or wallet in his possession and also has poor vision. "It is out of the ordinary right, like just for him to not say anything, not reach out, especially because he had been in communication with you know my sister, me, my aunties," said Molly Tyson. Hoak's daughters say he's a lovable person and is mentally aware of his surroundings despite having a brain injury in his past. They also said Hoak does not have any mental disorders like Alzheimer's or dementia. Sheriff's deputies say when Hoak disappeared, he was last wearing black pants also a black jacket, and white shoes. They add he may also be wearing glasses or an eye patch. Anyone who may have seen Richard Hoak is encouraged to contact the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.
