PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Harvard Police Department released the identity of the four suspects arrested after the robbery of a FedEx package caused a police pursuit. Harvard police identified the suspects as Reily Liriano Elena, Henry Batista Mackensy, Anderson Torres Cepin and Jason Vargas Gomez, all from the Bronx in New York. According to Rhode Island State Police, all four suspects are charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, with three of them facing additional charges. The Providence Police Department said the four individuals were arrested on Jan. 10 in connection with an armed robbery in Harvard. The department said a vehicle allegedly containing the suspects was seen being pursued by Massachusetts State Police before crossing over state lines into Rhode Island. The car then crashed near the Providence/Cranston line, and all four suspects allegedly attempted to flee. They were all apprehended by officers and then handed over to Rhode Island State Police for charging. The robbery in Harvard occurred on Jan. 9, when a FedEx driver had a package he was delivering taken from him by force, and was threatened verbally. The Harvard Police Department said that a preliminary investigation of the robbery showed the suspects may have been specifically targeting that delivery, as neighbors told police they saw the suspect vehicle in the area sometime before the incident. Surveillance video taken of the incident showed two masked individuals approach the delivery driver and forcibly take the package. All four suspects are due back in court in April. ABC6 News has reached out to police to find out if robbery charges will be added, and if the suspects will face extradition. Categories: Massachusetts, News, Providence, Rhode Island
