MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is accused of depositing two forged checks he created online into his Memphis bank account and withdrawing nearly half of the funds. The alleged crime occurred in June of 2024. Zeric Lawrence, 29, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft of property and forgery on Monday. Zeric Lawrence(SCSO) First Horizon Bank investigators said Lawrence deposited two checks from BML INC totaling $14,811.04 just days apart and withdrew some of the money before the checks came back as counterfeit. Juvenile accused of killing customer in wheelchair at gas station BML said the checks were not in their series of checks and had been replicated online. The company also said Lawrence has never worked for their company. First Horizon said it suffered a loss of $6,801.10.
