HARRISBURG, N.C. – Cabarrus County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call just after 5PM about a dispute in the Providence Manor neighborhood in Harrisburg on Monday, January 13. When two deputies arrived on scene, they say they witnessed a man shoot and kill a woman in the driveway of a home. Deputies say the man then fired multiple rounds at the two deputies. Deputies returned fire and called for back-up from the Concord Police Department. The man died at the scene. The identities of the man and the woman are being withheld pending family notification. The SBI is now conductiong an independent investigation in accordance with Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office policy. The deputies involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and they will provide more updates as they become available.
