BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run crash in February of last year. Police describe the vehicle as a dark green single or extra cab truck with a light colored, possibly silver, camper shell. The fatal crash was reported on Feb. 15, 2024 in the area of Cottonwood and East Pacheco roads around 2:09 a.m. Urban Search & Rescue team from Kern County deployed to Los Angeles wildfires Investigation showed a man was walking along the east shoulder of Cottonwood Road when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound. The vehicle fled the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner's Office has not identified the man.
