CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Maryland State Fire Marshal said the 94-year-old woman who died in the house fire in Hughesville has been identified. The woman was identified as Dora Lee Douglas. Her cause of death was due to thermal burn injuries and smoke inhalation, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. On Jan. 9 at around 3 p.m., the Charles County Sheriff's Office and EMS responded to Douglas' home on Driftwood Place to check on her after a friend reported not being able to get in contact with her after a few days. The cause of the fire and where it started is still under investigation. Investigators said it's possible that Douglas accidentally lit her clothes on fire by touching the kitchen stove.
